After several fights it would seem to suddenly end a level (no level-end music), then the next mission would start. I think Mission 1 and Mission 2 were just long stretches of nothing. It seemed like there now 6 attack buttons, yet I found myself using just punch and jump. I know you can do HD and still keep it retro (just look at Shovel Knight), but this art style of mixed 8-bit sprites w/ 16-bit backgrounds mixed with pixel art mixed w/ blocky cut scenes just clashes with itself and seems really off.Ĭontrols somehow seemed less responsive and less predictable than the already awkward controls that Double Dragon II on NES had.
